Head of Electronic & Continuing Resources Acquisitions, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC

Known for its leadership in distance learning and its mission to serve, J.Y. Joyner Library, East Carolina University (ECU) seeks applicants for the position of Head of Electronic & Continuing Resources Acquisitions. The successful candidate will lead the Library’s Electronic & Continuing Resources Department, which is responsible for acquiring and providing access to journals (both electronic and print formats), databases, and other continuing resources that have been selected for inclusion in the Library’s collection. The position will report to the Assistant Director for Acquisitions & Collection Management.

Responsibilities: Working collaboratively with relevant personnel, the Head of Electronic & Continuing Resources Acquisitions will: Manage the acquisition, licensing, invoicing, claiming, renewal, and cancellation of electronic and continuing resources in all formats ; supervise and mentor the personnel in the Electronic & Continuing Resources Department, including three support staff positions and one librarian position; lead the development, documentation, management, evaluation, and revision of departmental workflows; strategize to develop department plans and objectives that align with Library goals and that reflect evolving models for acquisitions, resource access, and scholarly communications; monitor trends in electronic and continuing resource management and recommend appropriate enhancements in departmental operations; review and initiate processing of electronic and continuing resource invoices; communicate with vendors and publishers regarding the evaluation, acquisition, management, renewal, and cancellation of Library resources; lead the review and negotiation of electronic and continuing resources license agreements in accordance with license guidelines; use data-informed metrics in the evaluation of Library resources; assist in the development and management of projections for the Library’s materials budgets; participate in the management of the Library’s electronic resources management system; serve as a member of committees and taskforces, including the Library’s Electronic Resources Review Committee, and represent the Library in relevant consortia.
