The University of Kansas (KU) is looking to fill 2 manager-level positions in the areas of Continuing Resources and Firm Orders and Approval. Each of these two positions will manage a team of staff within the KU Libraries Acquisitions Department, which will undergo a comprehensive workflow analysis between July-Dec, 2014, in order to transition into a larger blended department of Acquisitions and Resource Sharing (Interlibrary Loan).
These positions will each initially manage duties in one of the department’s two major workflows:
1) Continuing Resources (4 FTE) is currently responsible for regular annual subscription renewal cycles, trials, quotes, new orders, receipt, check-in, binding and record maintenance of print serials, claims, and licensing and e-resources management support.
2) Firm Orders & Approval (4 FTE) is currently responsible for ordering, receiving, and assessment of firm order, approval, and demand-driven resources in all formats. The unit also works closely with International Area Studies to order and receive materials in various foreign languages.
The managers of these areas will help to analyze and implement new workflows, and will ultimately supervise up to 8 staff to support a variety of activities across the blended organization.
