The Head of Collections manages collection development functions and works with the Scholarly Communications Outreach Coordinator on campus scholarly communication activities. Responsibilities include oversight of the University Libraries’ $4.4 million collections budget, the development of policies and procedures, coordination of liaison librarian activities related to collection development, negotiation of license agreements, and assessment of the collections. The individual in this position serves as the primary contact for collections activities carried out through consortia and facilitates and provides guidance to the campus in addressing collections issues, including copyright and open access, and other emerging publishing models.
