Director of Library Tech Services, University of Illinois at Springfield, Springfield, IL

The Brookens Library at the University of Illinois Springfield seeks a Director of Library Technical Services and Information Systems who will also serve as an Instructional Services Librarian. The director will research, evaluate, and implement new technologies to enhance and extend library services in innovative, user-centered, and cost-effective ways and will provide leadership and management for technical services and systems operations including: acquisitions, cataloging, serials, interlibrary loans, electronic resources management, and application administration and development. He or she will set strategic direction for the units and plan, organize, manage and evaluate workflows, services and problem solving methods. The director manages personnel processes for the area, including evaluation of training needs and provision of appropriate training programs. In addition, the director serves as an Instructional Services librarian, participating in liaison and outreach, instruction, reference, and collection development. He or she also participates in policy and strategic planning decisions as a member of Library Cabinet.
