Virginia State University is seeking a professional to provide management and coordination of the serials department in the University Libraries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position reports to the Associate Librarian for Technical Services in the University Libraries and manages the day-to-day operations and workflows supporting the selection, purchasing, licensing, access and maintenance of electronic resources and serials in all formats.  The position also serves as a liaison providing collection development support and information literacy instruction to assigned academic departments; manages the scheduling and reference services for the serials information desk to include working an evening and rotating weekend assignment; and oversees the supervision and training of student assistants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program and considerable experience in all aspects of serials control and management.  Evidence of experience working with integrated library systems, electronic resource management and link resolver software; demonstrated experience working with eresources vendors and negotiating and monitoring license agreements; expert cataloging experience and familiarity with current and emerging standards in library metadata, including MARC21, FRBR, and RDA; excellent communication and analytical skills; supervisory experience; commitment to service; and the ability to work cooperatively and quickly learn and adapt to new technology.
