Assistant Professor to Associate Professor (Electronic Resources and Serials Management Librarian)
The University of Guam Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Library seeks an energetic self motivated and service-oriented librarian who will oversee the operations and staff in a broad range of activities related to the selection, acquisition and management of electronic resources and online and print serials. Specific responsibilities include management of the RFK Library’s electronic resources for learning, research, and teaching, as well as its serials collections in print and online journal database formats.
The ERS librarian will report to the library director. This is a 12-month, tenure track position.
Required: Masters degree (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited library school. Minimum three (3) years professional librarian experience in electronic resources and serials management. Knowledge of current trends and practices in electronic resources and online database and print serials selection and management. Knowledge and experience with technology used in providing electronic resources for learning, teaching, research and information gathering, online databases and subscriptions, and others. Familiarity and experience with serials cataloging for electronic resources and print serials. Knowledge and application of teaching and learning approaches focused on student centered learning and outcomes. Able to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic institution and learning environment. Strong interpersonal communication and public service skills. Ability to interact with students, faculty and staff in a courteous, professional, and collegial manner. Ability to meet academic promotion and tenure requirements, consisting of but not limited to active participation in University and community service and in self-initiated research and creative projects.
Preferred: Additional graduate degree in a subject area. Recent electronic resources and serials management experience in an academic setting. Knowledge and experience in web technologies and metadata standards related to effective electronic resources access and learning outcomes. Experience in providing electronic resources to support Distance Learning programs and initiatives. Experience in organizing serials print collections and training staff to manage collections. Experience with grant application and/or grant reporting. Demonstrated ability to promote library services.
