Electronic Resources/Collection Development Librarian (Shepherd University, West Virginia)
Shepherd University seeks a dynamic and progressive individual to provide leadership in the areas electronic information resources and collection development. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment to improve and enhance access for all types of electronic and print information resources.
This is a full-time, 12 month, salaried, non-tenure track faculty position with full benefits. Areas of Responsibility: Electronic Resources: Coordinate the selection, acquisition, and management of electronic resources, including; selecting resources, conducting trials, negotiating prices and licenses, analyzing of usage data. Train library staff in effectively using the electronic collections, when necessary. Promote the use of electronic collections. Take proactive role with library vendors such as Ebsco, Baker & Taylor to ensure most cost-effective use of library acquisitions budget. Work closely with Systems Librarian to support ongoing access to electronic and print information resources and to identify new services to improve user access to electronic resources. In conjunction with Library Acquisitions Associate & Assistant to Dean manage electronic resources budget. (45%) Collection Development: Collaborate with other library faculty liaisons to develop and implement a comprehensive collection development policy and plan for Scarborough Library. Overseeing Technical Services department to ensure ordering, processing, and billing are running smoothly. In conjunction with Library Acquisitions Associate & Assistant to Dean manage materials budget. (20%) Liaison: Serve as Library Faculty Liaison to departments of Nursing, Education and Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Sports. Liaison duties include relationship building and collection development for these areas plus teaching library single session instruction for these areas. (20%) Reference & Committee: In conjunction with other library faculty provides general reference and research assistance to library users utilizing the Scarborough Library on-call reference service model. Library committee work, membership on university committees and other duties as assigned. (15%) Minimum Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS; Experience with an integrated library system such as Voyager. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Enthusiasm for the rapidly changing nature of electronic resources. Ability to exercise flexibility, prioritize work, take initiative and balance multiple projects. Strong service orientation. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with current issues in collection development, licensing and copyright issues. Experience with budgeting. Experience teaching or training.
