Cataloging and Metadata Support and Training Specialist, PALS, A Program of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, Mankato, Minnesota

The position exists to provide PALS customers with consultation, software support, training and documentation services to those using the Aleph and Evergreen library management systems and other supported software. The incumbent specializes in the areas of metadata management, database quality control, and cataloging.

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Library Science; library experience; significant cataloging experience; extensive knowledge of library automation systems and metadata standards including MARC; excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to speak in public and make presentations; analytical thought processes and problem-solving abilities; effective instructional skills; ability to work as a team member; ability to work and learn independently.

Desired: Experience with Aleph and/or Evergreen cataloging; OCLC; knowledge of RDA (Resource Description and Access); knowledge of adult learning and training techniques; experience in trouble-shooting software applications; project management experience; experience in organizing and leading learning opportunities, creative and innovative perspective.
