Director of Technical Services & Systems
The director of technical services and systems is responsible for leading, coordinating and administering the daily and long-term activities in the technical services and systems departments as well as the Visual Resources Center, encompassing acquisitions/collection development, electronic resources/serials, cataloging/Metadata services, bindery/physical processing, visual resources cataloging and outreach, the integrated library system, and the libraries’ technologies and Web presence. The director of technical services and systems serves on the dean’s senior management team at the Jen Library and coordinates technical services and system efforts for all of SCAD’s library locations. The person in this position will possess an ALA-accredited M.L.S degree; three to five years supervisory and management experience; demonstrated skill in project development; ability to manage multiple departmental operations in a dynamic and changing environment; thorough knowledge of existing and emerging library technologies; knowledge of current trends and new developments in technical services and digital library initiatives; and previous experience in cataloging, preferably in an academic library. Experience with oversight of an integrated library system and Innovative Interface systems as well as an undergraduate or additional graduate degree in a subject taught at SCAD preferred.
