The Librarian must have proven ability to plan, develop and administer library services, manage, train, supervise and evaluate the work of library professional and paraprofessional staff. Position subject to contract award. Work location Washington, D.C.
·Cataloging print, audiovisual and electronic materials in both OCLC and the ILS as well as the creation of holdings records and completion of any associated authority work
·Processing new volumes and withdrawals
·Maintenance of holdings data
·Participates in development of collections, knowledgeable of library policy; interprets and assists in formation and implementation.
·Provides instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and is knowledgeable of operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
·Good knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and performance evaluation. Supervises library support staff.
·Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association (ALA),plus three to four years of equivalent full-time experience as a professional librarian
·Requires excellent knowledge of: library services, reference sources and methods, plus other information acquisition methods; library automation principles and practices, including computer equipment systems and software; principles and practices of library science including Millennium ILS/INNOPAC, OCLC/Connexion, WEBPAC Pro (Web based public access catalog), EBSCO, LCSH, LCCS, AACR2
·Experience in a law library and/or with legal resources strongly preferred
