E-Formats Librarian (New Position)
The University of Pennsylvania Libraries has an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, service-oriented and flexible individual to play a key role in its Electronic Resources and Serials Department, one of five departments within the Patricia & Bernard Goldstein Information Processing Center. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Electronic Resources and Serials Department, the E-Formats Librarian will be involved in purchasing and maintaining accessibility to the increasingly central set of electronic and continuing resources available to the University of Pennsylvania community. The Electronic Resources and Serials Department is responsible for all electronic, licensed and continuing resources – to include tangible formats. Staff in Electronic Resources and Serials work together as a collaborative, service-oriented team that strives to ensure students, faculty, and staff have consistent access to the broad range of research publications provided through the University Libraries. We are looking for someone who works well with ambiguity, flourishes in a very demanding environment, is flexible, proactive and has a good sense of humor. The Libraries are especially seeking applicants that reflect the diversity of the Penn’s student population.
Position Summary: This new position will work in partnership with the other ER+S section heads, and will share in the responsibility for all electronic, digital, licensed and continuing resources purchased by the University of Pennsylvania Libraries. The E-Formats Librarian will provide expertise and consultation on electronic and continuing resource related issues, assuring the quality and continuous improvement of services in the Libraries.
The Librarian will support the broad range of acquisitions and management services for digital and continuing assets, acquire and ensure the availability of an extensive range of digital collection materials, create, maintain and make available a wide variety of metadata pertaining to the lifecycle of these resources, including information regarding the acquisition of digital information.
