The College of New Jersey is a highly selective, comprehensive residential institution recognized as one of the outstanding public colleges in the country. Located between New York City and Philadelphia in suburban Ewing Township, the College enrolls approximately 6,000 undergraduates and 900 graduate students. We are currently seeking candidates to fill a 12-month, tenure-track position at TCNJ library.
Plan, promote, implement, and evaluate the College’s online information literacy program and basic library instruction activities. Design innovative multimedia and web-based instruction modules. Determine appropriate ways to infuse information literacy across the curriculum, and among diverse learners. Assess and evaluate information literacy initiatives. Keep abreast of trends in information literacy pedagogy, learning theory, and educational technology and design. Provide in-person instruction. Provide reference service and research assistance. Some weekend and evening duties required. Engage in scholarly and service activities expected of tenure-track librarians.
Required: ALA-accredited Master’s degree. Minimum three years professional-level, academic library experience. Demonstrated expertise with web-based instructional design. Knowledge of information literacy theory and practice. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and technology in the design and delivery of face-to-face and online instruction. Experience in building faculty partnerships. Excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and planning skills. Initiative, flexibility, strong service orientation, and commitment to continuous learning.
Preferred: Knowledge of course management systems. Record of scholarly/professional activity. Expertise in formal assessment of learning outcomes. Post-secondary teaching experience; academic library reference experience. Experience in the implementation of innovative information and communication technologies. Additional graduate degree is highly desirable.
Appointment will be at the rank of Librarian 2/Asst. Professor in the Library. Salary range: $63,966–$99,162. Full benefits package including TIAA/CREF.
