Archival Technician – New Orleans (LAC)

LAC Group seeks candidates for the position of Archival Technician to work on site at an ongoing project in New Orleans, Louisiana. Working under the supervision of the Archivist/Team Lead the Archival Technician will assist with processing collections and assist in the accurate completion of record fields in Archon that will be compliant with Encoded Archival Description (EAD) standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Help ensure Archon record data is EAD-compliant
  • Assist with creating detailed finding aids for archival items
  • Perform processing of physical archives
  • Working in a very fast-paced production environment and successfully maintaining a high degree of accuracy along with the fast regular pace, is required.
  • Other related tasks as needed or requested

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Integrated Library Systems or similar system
  • Familiarity with Encoded Archival Descriptions (EAD)
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven production environment
  • Basic knowledge of archival processes and practices
  • Strong knowledge of Encoded Archival Descriptions (EAD) a plus
  • Experience with physical archives processing or acquisitions a plus
  • Experience working with XML mark-up languages a plus
  • Familiarity with Document Type Definitions (DTD) a plus
