			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>LAC Group</strong> seeks professional <strong>Librarians and Information Technicians</strong> to implement and start-up an integrated library system (ILS) for our government client located in Forest Park, GA, outside of Atlanta.   This will be a full-time position for 6 months to a year of service working with library software and information to get the newly acquired Sirsi/Dynix Symphony ILS system up and running.  This position requires someone with a Secret Clearance (or higher). Subject to award.</p>
<p><strong><span id="more-939"></span></strong></p>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Have management or technical experience in the areas of analysis, evaluation, planning, design, development, implementation and support of complex programs, primarily working with a library Integrated Library Systems (Sirsi/Dynix Symphony).</li>
<li>Experience in planning and overseeing large-scale software implementations or technical programs</li>
<li>Has knowledge of library techniques, systems and procedures with some knowledge of sources of reference on bibliographical material. </li>
<li>Experience in the analysis, design, development, installation or support of routine computer software programs in broad multi-user areas such as: acquisition/development of systems and equipment, library systems; archival systems, knowledge and information management;</li>
<li>Must have previous experience working with Sirsi/Dynix Symphony  ILS, or similar, particularly in the areas of implementation</li>

Samford University Library seeks a cataloging and metadata librarian. Located in suburban Birmingham, Samford is the largest privately-funded and fully-accredited institution of higher learning in Alabama. The university library, with nearly one million holdings, serves the university community of more than 4,700 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 700 full-time employees.</p>

Position Description: The cataloging and metadata librarian reports to the chair of cataloging. The cataloging department is comprised of two librarians, three staff members, and some student workers. Duties: responsible for original, complex and copy cataloging of materials in all formats including electronic resources; assists in new workflows as technologies change; provides some training to staff and student assistants in cataloging and support tasks; serves as liaison between the cataloging department and on-campus center libraries; participates in reference rotations which entail some weekend and some night duty; additional duties as required. REQUIRED Qualifications: MLS/MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution. 3 years of relevant library experience. Knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, LC classification, MARC bibliographic and authority formats; familiarity with a bibliographic utility, preferably OCLC; knowledge of trends in information processing relevant to libraries, archives and repositories; familiarity with an integrated library system. Ability to perform work with accuracy and perseverance; ability to work cooperatively and independently, with initiative and good judgment. Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication and presentation skills. Experience using technology to support innovative and /or productivity enhancements. The candidate must be supportive of the university’s Christian mission. PREFERRED Qualifications: University Library experience.  Working knowledge of DACS, RDA and Innovative Interfaces Inc. Millennium ILS. Rank and Salary: Twelve-month, non-tenure track, faculty appointment; salary commensurate with experience; generous benefits/vacation package; tuition remission. <p>The University of Maryland Libraries is seeking a Head for the Metadata Services Department that will lead a service-centered department in designing, implementing, and assessing a wide range of processes that rely on metadata to provide access to the University of Maryland Libraries scholarly resources in all formats.  In a collaborative environment, plans and develops policies, workflows, and special projects. In partnership with colleagues in Public Services, Collection Management, and the Information Technology Divisions, has primary leadership responsibility for knowledge access strategies through the Libraries’ discovery systems.</p>
<p><span id="more-932"></span></p>
<p> <strong>Requirements: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution of higher education.</li>
<li>A minimum of five years professional cataloging/metadata experience in a library serving similar clientele.</li>
<li>A minimum of three years supervisory experience with evidence of successful and innovative management and results-oriented operations.  Demonstrated abilities to creatively work with library faculty, staff and others.</li>
<li>Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, and methods of access to scholarly resources, combined with a strong service orientation.</li>
<li>Excellent planning, organizational and communication skills.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of metadata standards and applications.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to meet faculty appointment, promotion, and permanent status criteria</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for the position of Head of Acquisitions (R98111), a faculty appointment with rank leading to tenure.  The successful candidate will provide leadership and expertise in all issues relating to the ordering and receipt of library materials, including:</p>
<ul>
<li>Oversees ordering and receiving of all library materials</li>
<li>Processes payments and prepares appropriate reports and statistics</li>
<li>Closely monitors budget allocation for materials</li>
</ul>

<p>All library faculty are responsible for working collaboratively to achieve University and Library goals and objectives.  In addition, faculty members must meet the requirements for tenure and promotion.</p>
<p>The position supervises 3 FTE staff and reports to the Director of Technical Services and Technology.</p>
<p>The following qualifications are required:  ALA-accredited MLS degree; five years professional library experience in an academic or research library; successful supervisory experience; experience in library acquisitions and serials management; experience with management of electronic resources; experience with electronic ordering, invoicing and processing; strong computer skills; demonstrated ability to manage detailed tasks; excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a personable, courteous and professional manner; and knowledge of trends and best practices in acquisitions, serials and electronic resources management.  Desired qualifications include: experience with Innovative Interfaces, Inc.; accounting experience; and experience with ERM applications and management.</p>

<p>POSITION SUMMARY</p>
<p>This position is responsible for the bibliographic control of items selected to be added to the collection in accordance with the policies of the Distributed eLibrary.</p>
<p><span id="more-920"></span></p>
<p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p>
<p>Create original catalog records; prepare and enter bibliographic records into OCLC for shared cataloging and interlibrary loan needs.</p>
<p>Assign NLM classification numbers and MeSH subject headings to catalog records; Ensure the integration and web accessibility of the Library&#8217;s electronic resources.</p>
<p>Participate in planning circulation policies with other sections of the Library; Process collection materials for use by library users.</p>
<p>Work closely with the Library Systems staff in formulating policies and profiling for the electronic library and provide current practice information when profiling vendor products which have been purchased.</p>
<p>Participate in long-range and strategic planning exercises for future automation activities; develop and maintain manuals describing the policies and procedures of the section.</p>
<p>Edit and prepare cataloging copy for entry into the Library&#8217;s automated catalog (OPAC); establish name, subject, and series authority entries following international standards for cataloging.</p>
<p>Maintain bibliographic records in the online catalog to ensure proper indexing and display in the catalog.</p>
<p>Establish and maintain in the online catalog the hypertext links to electronic resources; work with the Systems Librarian in creating and maintaining the electronic presence in the Library.</p>
<p>Ensure that each item is entered in the online catalog accurately so that the records interact correctly with the loan rules for circulating items; withdraw lost or damaged items from the online catalog and OCLC.</p>
<p>Advise on public relations materials relative to the work of the section.</p>
<p>Other duties as assigned.</p>

The successful applicant for this faculty position serves as a member of a team of information professionals committed to the development, implementation, and management of policies and procedures leading to the successful acquisition, access, preservation, and fiscal control of serial resources in all formats.</p>
<p><span id="more-918"></span></p>
<p>The Serials Librarian is a Team Leader, reporting to the Associate Dean for Technical Services.</p>
<p>DUTIES &#8211; Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:</p>
<p>• Collaborate with relevant personnel and departments in planning, setting goals, and monitoring work flows concerning the physical processing of print serials (including check-in, claiming, title maintenance, and binding);</p>
<p>• Solve complex problems that arise during the processing of serial resources;</p>
<p>• Oversee the management of serial orders and invoices within the acquisitions module of the libraries’ SirsiDynix Symphony integrated library system;</p>
<p>• Supervise three serials staff members; participate in the training of serials department staff;</p>
<p>• Assist in the authentication, activation, and maintenance of e-serials;</p>
<p>• Manage and carry out procedures pertaining to the processing of invoices for microform and print serials resources;</p>
<p>• Maintain ongoing contacts with publishers and vendors;</p>
<p>• Collaborate with serials cataloging to assist with record maintenance;</p>
<p>• Keep abreast of current trends, standards, and developments in the serials industry regarding vendor-developed services, resources, automated systems, and publishing models;</p>
<p>• Participate in appropriate collection development activities as a library liaison to one or more academic departments;</p>
<p>• Meet library and university requirements for promotion and tenure in the areas of librarianship, research, service, and collegiality.</p>
<p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p>
<p>• ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS or international equivalent;</p>
<p>• 1-3 years relevant library experience;</p>
<p>• Supervisory and management experience;</p>
<p>• Knowledge of current trends in the management and access of electronic resources;</p>
<p>• Experience with an automated library system;</p>
<p>• High level of familiarity with computers;</p>
<p>• Experience with spreadsheets, preferably MS Excel.</p>
<p>• Strong analytical and organizational skills;</p>
<p>• Effective interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written;</p>
<p>• Ability to set and adjust priorities and work flows in a dynamic and changing environment and accept new challenges in order to realize departmental and library goals;</p>
<p>• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;</p>
<p>• Ability to carry out professional research and service necessary to meet library and university requirements for promotion and tenure.</p>

<p>• Previous library experience working with electronic resources;</p>

<p>The University of Manitoba Libraries seeks an effective, highly-motivated person for the position of Head, Technical Services at an Assistant/Associate Librarian rank to begin May 1, 2012, or as soon as possible thereafter. This position normally has a two year probationary period and the salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.</p>

<p>The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library at The University of Montana seeks an Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Management Librarian to provide expertise and leadership in the procurement, licensing, management, and support of ongoing access to electronic and print information resources purchased by UM libraries. The successful candidate will possess an ALA accredited Master&#8217;s degree in Library Science completed by the appointment date; demonstrated understanding of current models, practices, trends, and tools used by academic libraries for acquisitions, access and discoverability of electronic resources and electronic resource management software; awareness of trends and working experience or coursework in cataloging, indexing and/or metadata and information retrieval, including RDA and FRBR; and the ability to meet standards for achieving tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated; enjoy working in a fast-paced, changing environment; have excellent analytical, organizational, time management, project management, and communication skills; have individual initiative; have a commitment to excellent customer service; and have a strong interest in working with open URL linking technologies, managing web-scale discovery tools, budgeting, analyzing usage statistics, licensing, facilitating communication within the library, and coordinating staff training and workflows.
